Saying the JJB is superb, would be an understatement, it is truly magnificent. It opened in 1999 and is similar in design to Huddersfield's McAlpine Stadium, having both been built by the same company. However the JJB stadium is different in that the stands are rectangular (compared to the semi circular at Huddersfield) and both ends have the supporting steel girders suspended from beneath the roof, rather sitting above the stand itself. The four stands are of roughly the same height and there is an electric scoreboard above the Adidas Stand, on one side of the stadium. The stadium is not totally enclosed , all corners being open.
This 18 hole park land course threads its way through magnificent mature trees and provides a challenge that is mastered by few. The extended course was designed by Gaunt & Marnock and incorporates modern specification greens which provided excellent playing surfaces throughout the year. Whilst not extremely long by modern standards the 6008 yards have stood the test of time with the course record still a very respectable 67 against a par of 70.

Each has a likeness of a past player outlined on the seats and is named after that player. Tom Finney, Bill Shankly and now on the latest stand to be built, goalkeeping legend Alan Kelly, makes a welcome change from the boring letters (such as 'Holte End' - Don't they know which stand they are in?) outlined on most new stands.
